Custom Rugby Uniform Manufacturer for Clubs, Schools & Brands

A rugby jersey is the only kit garment designed to be grabbed, pulled and twisted by another adult for eighty minutes. That single fact decides the fabric, the fit and — above all — the seams. Axis Sportswear is a cut & sew custom rugby uniform manufacturer producing union, league, sevens, touch and training kit for clubs, schools, universities and activewear brands across the USA, UK and Europe.

Everything is made to your spec — tight-fit or classic-fit, sleeve length, collar type, seam construction, gusset, sponsor placement and numbering. Every garment is built to World Rugby Law 4 so your kit isn’t turned away at a pre-match inspection. Minimums start at 50 pieces per style, tech pack development is free, and your first sample ships in 7–10 days.

The Seam Is the Product Everything Else Is the Graphic

Rugby kit doesn’t fail because of the print. It fails at the shoulder seam, at the sleeve join and at the crotch of the shorts. We settle all three at pattern stage, before anyone talks about colours.

Design developed properly, not guessed at

Send a tech pack, a sketch, a competitor jersey, or just your club colours and a crest file. Our design team returns a production-ready spec with fit block, fabric and GSM, collar type, sleeve length, seam method, panel splits, number sizing and every sponsor position marked to the millimetre. Free with every order, and you approve it before sampling starts.

The fit decision, made properly

This is the whole garment. A tight-fit jersey in poly-spandex interlock gives an opponent nothing to hold — it’s the modern standard for competitive union, league and sevens. A classic loose fit in cotton-rich drill is heavier, warmer and traditional, still preferred by heritage clubs, veterans’ sides and supporters’ ranges. A training fit sits between the two, cut for volume and washed twice a week. Pick wrong and the kit is uncomfortable, unpopular or illegal — regardless of how good the design looks on screen.

Custom Rugby Kit We Manufacture

Order one garment or a full club package. Everything below can run in the same fabric and colorway in a single production batch, so your first XV, your women’s side, your minis and your off-field range all match.

Tight-Fit Match Jerseys

Poly-spandex interlock cut close to the body with set-in or raglan sleeves, gripper cuffs and reinforced armhole seams. The standard for competitive rugby union and league, because there is nothing loose for an opponent to grip. Fully sublimated, so hoops, sponsor blocks and numbers are printed into the cloth rather than sitting on top of it.

Classic Loose-Fit Jerseys

Traditional heavyweight cotton-rich drill with a rubber-button grandad collar, twin-needle hems and a longer body. Warmer, softer, and what heritage clubs, veterans' teams and supporters' ranges still ask for. Decorated with screen print, embroidery or stitched tackle twill — cotton will not take sublimation, and any factory that tells you otherwise is guessing.

Rugby League Jerseys

Built to the league silhouette — closer body, shorter sleeve, higher armhole and heavier sponsor coverage across the chest and back. Distinct sizing block from union, which most manufacturers ignore entirely.

Rugby Fabrics — With the Weights, Not Just the Names

Rugby is the one sport where fabric weight is a durability decision, not a comfort preference. A 180 GSM knit that works beautifully for a running tee will be shredded in a maul. Here’s our range with real figures so you can spec jersey, shorts and base layer properly. Ask for a physical swatch pack before committing to a season buy.

Low MOQ and Factory-Direct Wholesale Pricing

Rugby buyers are rarely buying one thing. A club needs jerseys, shorts, socks, training tops and a travel range in the same colour — so our pricing is built around packages, not single lines.

Minimum order from 50 pieces

50 units per style and colourway, with sizes mixed freely inside that quantity — mini through adult 4XL in one order. Enough to kit a first and second XV without tying up a season's budget.

Volume pricing that actually moves

Breakpoints at 200, 500, 1,000 and 2,500 units per style. Because rugby kit is ordered by clubs in seasonal cycles, we hold your pricing for a full season so your committee can budget without re-quoting.

Kit bundling

Combine jerseys, shorts, socks, base layers and off-field kit into one production run and the setup, sampling and freight costs are shared across the whole order instead of paid once per garment. For a club package this is usually the single largest saving available.

Private Label Rugby Kit Your Brand on Every Piece

If you’re a teamwear brand, a club shop or a retailer, we manufacture under your label, not ours. Nothing that leaves our floor carries our name.

  • Woven neck labels, hem tabs, size tags and care labels in your artwork.
  • Heat-transfer neck prints where you want a tagless finish under a tight-fit jersey.
  • Custom drawcords, aglets, rubber buttons and branded trims.
  • Sponsor and manufacturer marks applied to your exact placement spec.
  • Poly bags, hang tags, roster-sorted kit packs and retail-ready boxes.
  • Barcode and SKU labelling for retail, club shops and marketplace fulfilment.
  • Full confidentiality, NDA on request, and your designs never appear in our portfolio without written permission.

For clubs we can also bag and label by player — name, number and size on each pack — so kit distribution at the first training session takes ten minutes instead of an hour.

Flexible Order Order Quantities That Match Where You Actually Are

A single village club replacing one set of jerseys, a school ordering across five age groups, a university with a men’s and women’s programme, and a teamwear brand planning a full season buy are four completely different orders. We price and schedule all four the same way — transparently, and without pretending a 60-piece club order is a nuisance.

Start with one style to test the fit and the fabric, then scale into a full club package once your committee or your customers have seen it. Pricing scales with volume, patterns stay on file, and reorders skip development. There’s no penalty for starting small and no ceiling on where it goes.

Decoration Methods Matched to Rugby Fabrics

Rugby decoration has one extra requirement no other sport has: it has to survive being gripped and dragged. Method matters more here than anywhere else.

Dye-sublimation

Colour and graphics printed into polyester fibre, so there is nothing sitting on the surface to crack, peel or add weight. The correct choice for hoops, gradient panels, full-print sponsor blocks and anything on a tight-fit jersey. Polyester only — sublimation will not bond to cotton, and any manufacturer who offers it on a cotton-rich heritage jersey is telling you something untrue.

Heat transfer and silicone transfers

Thin, stretchy and soft-handed, ideal for player numbers and sponsor marks on stretch fabrics where embroidery would pucker. Silicone gives a raised premium finish that holds up in contact far better than standard vinyl.

Embroidery

Raised, durable stitching for club crests and manufacturer marks on classic jerseys, polos, mid-layers and travel wear. We avoid it on high-stretch tight-fit panels, where stitching restricts the fabric and eventually tears out.

Screen printing

Cost-effective and long-lasting for large runs with simple sponsor marks and lettering, and the right call on cotton-rich jerseys where sublimation is not an option.

Tackle twill and appliqué

Stitched-down twill lettering and numbering for a traditional heavyweight look — heavier, but authentic and extremely durable. Standard on heritage and college-style builds.

Numbering and roster personalisation

Back numbers sized to position and age group, plus player names, captain marks and commemorative match details. Sublimated for tight-fit builds, transfer or twill for classic. Send us a roster sheet and we'll handle the whole set.

Why Clubs, Schools and Brands
Choose Axis for Rugby Kit

  • Built for contact, not for a photo. Reinforced shoulder seams, bar-tacked stress points and gusseted shorts as standard, not as an upgrade.
  • Law 4 compliant by default. We know the rules on sleeve length, rigid components and padding, and we flag a design that won’t pass inspection before you print it.
  • Real fit blocks. Men’s, women’s, youth and mini graded separately, with sizing up to adult 4XL because front rows exist.
  • One-stop manufacturing. Design, fabric, decoration, private label and shipping under one roof — playing kit and off-field range in one production run.
  • Colour accurate. Pantone matching confirmed on your sample before bulk, which matters when your club colours have been the same since 1897.
  • Season-aware scheduling. We plan backwards from your first fixture, not forwards from our capacity.
  • Global shipping. Tracked door-to-door delivery to the USA, UK, Europe, Canada and Australia with export paperwork handled our side.
  • One account manager from first enquiry to delivered order, working in your timezone.

We exist to make ordering custom rugby kit simple, honest and worth repeating every season.
