A hockey jersey is the only team garment designed to be worn over a full set of protective equipment. Get the pattern wrong and it binds across the shoulder pads, rides up over the elbow pads, or hangs like a tent. Axis Sportswear is a cut & sew custom ice hockey uniforms manufacturer producing pro-cut, goalie-cut and practice jerseys, socks, pant shells and warm-up wear for teams, junior programmes, leagues and teamwear brands across the USA, Canada and Europe.
Everything is made to your spec — the knit weight, the mesh insert placement, the elbow reinforcement, the collar, the fight strap, the twill layering and the branding. Numbers and nameplates are produced in-house, so a full roster arrives sorted, bagged and labelled by player. Minimums start at 50 pieces per style, tech pack development is free, and your first sample ships in 10–14 days.
Three things decide whether a hockey order works: the design, the fit over equipment, and how the numbering is applied. We settle all three before production starts.
Send a tech pack, a sketch, Pantone references, or the jersey you wore last season and want improved. Our design team returns a production-ready mockup showing panel construction, mesh insert placement, collar type, striping sequence, and the exact size and position of every crest, number and patch — front, back and both sleeves. You approve it before sampling begins.
This is the part most suppliers get wrong. A hockey jersey has to clear shoulder caps and elbow pads without binding, which is why hockey sizing runs roughly two sizes above street sizing and why the sleeve is cut wider and shorter than it looks on a hanger. We grade three cuts — pro (game fit over full equipment), replica (retail and fan fit, worn over normal clothing) and goalie (substantially wider through the body and longer in the arm to clear chest protector and blocker). Youth through senior 3XL, with a women’s block available.
Order a full kit or just the pieces you need. Everything below can run in the same colourway and the same production batch, so home, away and practice sets match exactly.
Heavyweight 220–260 GSM polyester knit with mesh side and underarm inserts, reinforced elbow panels, double-stitched shoulders and a fully lined collar. Cut to fit over a complete set of equipment. The specification competitive senior and junior teams expect.
Full-print jerseys where the design uses gradients, fades, all-over patterns or complex striping that twill can't reproduce. Graphics are bonded into the fabric, so there is nothing to peel — with twill numbers applied over the top if your league requires stitched numerals.
Wider through the chest and body, longer in the sleeve, with a cut that clears a chest protector and blocker without riding up. A category most suppliers won't grade separately — we do, because a goalie in a resized skater jersey is visibly restricted.
Knit weight is what separates a jersey that holds its shape under twill numbers from one that sags after ten games. Here’s our hockey-specific range with real figures, so you can match the spec to your level and price point. Ask for a physical swatch pack before committing to a full team order.
A single team ordering twenty jerseys and a distributor supplying a whole league have completely different problems, and one rigid minimum serves neither. We scale to the order in front of us, and because we are the factory there is no trading house margin between you and the price.
50 pieces per style and colourway, with sizes mixed freely inside that quantity — youth through senior 3XL, including goalie cuts, in a single order.
Per-unit cost drops at 200, 500, 1,000 and 2,500 units. Multi-team and programme-wide orders are quoted as a single volume even when the designs differ between teams.
Produce both colourways in the same batch and share the artwork setup, twill and freight cost instead of paying it twice. The same applies to adding practice jerseys or socks to a game jersey order.

Nothing that leaves our floor carries our name. Whether you’re a teamwear brand reselling under your own label or a club running a pro shop, the order arrives ready for your shelf.
For EU-bound orders, we supply fiber composition labeling in the required languages, REACH-compliant trim declarations, and OEKO-TEX certified fabric options on request. Ask for the documentation pack at quotation stage rather than at the border. More on our private label service.
A single beer-league team, a minor hockey association running twelve age groups, and a distributor supplying rinks across a region are three different jobs, and one rigid minimum serves none of them. Start at 50 pieces to kit one team, come back at 500 when the program expands, and move to scheduled seasonal production once your volumes become predictable. Because your patterns and twill artwork are on file, every reorder — including two mid-season replacement jerseys — skips development entirely and goes straight into production.
No surprises, no middlemen, no guessing about where your order is. Here’s exactly how we work.

Hockey punishes decoration harder than any other team sport. Here’s what holds — see all our printing methods.
Layered polyester twill, stitched down with a zig-zag or satin stitch. The most durable numbering available and the traditional hockey standard. Adds weight, which is why it needs a heavier body knit underneath.
Graphics bonded permanently into polyester. No weight, nothing to peel, and the only way to achieve gradients, fades and all-over patterns. Works only on light-coloured polyester, so dark base designs are printed rather than dyed.
Premium crests, captaincy letters and shoulder logos. On heavier knits we back the stitch so it sits flat and doesn't pull the fabric.
Cost-effective for bold logos on practice jerseys, warm-ups and off-ice wear at volume. Not recommended for game numbers, where twill lasts considerably longer.
Thin and flexible, suitable for small sharp text, sponsor marks and practice jersey numbering. We do not recommend single-layer vinyl for game numbers — equipment abrasion lifts it inside a season.
League badges, memorial patches, sponsor marks and shoulder logos. Supplied applied or loose.
